Natural Skin Care to Help Dry & Dehydrated Skin

Do you know the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?

Both tend to feel the same, but there is a big difference between a dry skin type and a dehydrated skin condition which can occur in every skin type.

If you have dry skin, your skin is lacking oils or lipids. A dry skin type means you are born this way and you might be dry everywhere else on your body, like hands, legs, scalp. Dry skin lacks suppleness and elasticity; it leads to wrinkles. It feels rough, appears dry, and can be flaky.

If you have a dehydrated skin condition, your skin is lacking water in the stratum corneum (the top layer of the skin). Dehydrated skin can be caused by seasonal changes, make-up, diet, AC, exposure to the sun, hard water, hot showers/baths etc.

When skin is dehydrated, it creates more oil to make up for the missing water; this can cause dry skin patches, irritation, tightness, and breakouts. The skin appears to be scaly, dull, flaky, or has a rough texture. It also shows a network of tiny, triangular fine lines.

What can you do to hydrate your skin? What does my skin need?
